Neko
appeared in our yard three years ago as a stray. He was probably
attracted to us because we were feeding another stray and had two other
cats of our own. It was a slow process, but he bonded with my husband
and began using the bed we put out for him.
With patience and time he gradually became brave enough to come indoors,
although he was extremely nervous, vocal and would stay close to the
door. The pampering began immediately. We lavished him with love and
care because we knew he had been neglected and or abused in his past
because of his fear of strangers and loud noises. Unfortunately, he was
diagnosed having feline FIV and his health was
not very good. Nonetheless he became a part of the family and had the
best three years possible. What made him special was his trusting and
loving personality even though he was outnumbered by our other cats and
a dog. He got along with all and won us over with his beauty and
affectionate nature.
We miss him tremendously but feel privileged that he was a part of our
family, if only for three years.
