Tiger
was a stray that I took in when she was six weeks old. One of my
friend's parents would feed Tiger along with seven other cats, and their
mother. Tiger had a very hard time getting the food that was presented
to them because she was the runt of the litter. The other kittens,
which were literally twice her size, would push her right out of the way
to get to the food bowl. Although hungry, this did not bother Tiger too
much as she still seemed to frolic happily in the back yard playing with
anything she could find. That is until one of the other cats would come
up and bite her and Tiger would run off. To say Tiger was the "black
sheep' of the litter was an understatement.
After watching her and the other kittens for a few weeks, I decided that
I had to have her. She was just too cute to pass up (and all of the
other cats beating her up, I figured she deserved some good luck). My
friend dropped her off at the house that night. Almost immediately,
Tiger adapted to her new home (although confined to the basement at this
time). She seemed so happy to have her new food bowl all to herself,
even though she looked over her shoulder every 30 or so seconds to make
sure none of her brothers or sisters were coming to get her or her food!
Tiger has been in my home for about four weeks now and she is the sweetest,
funniest (and smallest) cat I have ever owned. Amazingly, she never
even did not use the litter box from day one! I named her Tiger because
she was so small but did not fear anything (heart of a tiger)! She
loves to carry her little play mouse around in her mouth and act like
she is the big shot of the house now. She routinely puts her play
varmints at my feet as a token of appreciation for taking her in. I
appease her and take it away for another day when she once again will
bring it back to me.
Tiger's favorites hobbies are watching TV and eating.. She is glued to
the screen every time the Phillies are on! And for such a small kitten
(she is ten weeks old and still barely over a pound) she eats more than I
do I think. She has learned the kitchen is where the food is made -
that is for sure! She could be sleeping anywhere in the house and as
soon as a cabinet opens in the kitchen, Tiger comes charging!
Lastly, my favorite part of Tiger is every morning at 6 AM she gives me
a nose kiss. Almost since the day I got her, she has slept next to me,
and at 6 o'clock she will take her little moist nose and rub it up
against mine to wake me up (I don't typically get up at six either).
Tiger has been a great addition to my life, and although she may never
get too big - she will always have the heart of a Tiger and my favorite kitten.
