Ida Star, the Cat of the Day
Name: Ida Star
Age: One and a half years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Tortie
Home: Chicago, Illinois, USA

Hi! My name is Ida Star. I also respond to Ida Shmida, Coochie Mamma, Scooter, and Monkey Girl. I'm named for my mom's grandma, so I know I'm really special! I live in Chicago with my mommy and big brother Teddy. Though we were adopted at the same time, Teddy and I aren't best friends but we get along okay. Sometimes Teddy wants to play too rough, and then I have to beat him up! But mostly we just hang out together or chase each other around the house.

When I first came to my forever home, I was pretty shy and I didn't trust strangers. But now I know that everyone who comes to visit is going to be nice. I still check new people out before I let them pet me, but I don't hide from them anymore. My favorite toys are my Mylar ball and my Cat in the Hat furry tail. Teddy starting fetching sponge balls, and it looked so fun that I decided that I wanted to do it too...so one day I dropped my Mylar ball at mommy's feet and now she throws them for me to chase and bring back. Sometimes I even leap into the air and catch the ball as it goes by. I also like to take the ball and hide it under the pillows on the bed. Then I pretend it's alive and jump on the pillows to capture it. I make little sad sounding mews when I do this - but I'm actually having a great time!

I live in a high-rise, so I don't ever go out (except to the vet). I love to sit on the heater by the window and watch everything that goes on. I'm sure glad I don't have to be out in the cold anymore.

Teddy and I have our very own web page at Furry Friends (the no-kill shelter we were adopted from), so we can keep our pals there updated on all our adventures. You can see it too! Just go to our website.

And if you click on 'alumni' on their main page you can see pictures of lots of other cats, dogs and bunnies that have been adopted.

Maybe you could even click on 'How you can help' and make a donation so that they can rescue more animals.

Mommy says me and Teddy are the best kitties in the whole world!
