This
is my sweetie, Gracie Havana O'Malley (aka, Amazing Gracie,
Graciela, Girlie). I adopted Gracie at the Humane Society just before
Thanksgiving ('04). I was very lonely after the death of my 17 1/2 year
old Rascal in early October, but I'd been traveling too much to think
about adopting yet. Even though I had two more trips planned, the Sunday
before Thanksgiving I headed to the Humane Society, "just to look." I
was smitten with the then-named Havana. I think it was those lynx-point
ears that got to me first. We went into a little "get-acquainted" room
for a while, where I observed her energy, alertness, and incredible
cuteness. An hour later, she entered my home, and firmly planted
herself in my heart (and her paws in my potted plants!). She loves to
kiss me, especially on the nose, before we get out of bed every morning.
And whenever I lie down to read, there she is, right under my chin,
motor running at about 50 decibels! Gracie loves to play with my
terrycloth hand towels, wadding them up and going for the "kill." She's
also a pretty good soccer player, and will scoot just about anything
that's not nailed down across the floor. After several years of nursing
a much loved, very quirky, aging, ailing cat, Gracie's energy caught me
off-guard! One look at that face, though, and I'm putty in her paws!
