This
is Einstein. His former family gave him that name and as it turns
out, it fits pretty well. Though not the brightest bulb in the box, he
is certainly the most gentle-hearted. In all the years he's been
around, we've never heard him growl, hiss, or use unseemly language.
Ein used to live with the folks across the street but decided to see if
the grass was greener over here. Evidently it is. He liked what he saw
and now only goes back for brief reunions with his biological mom, Zorro.
Not one to offend, he makes at least a twice daily trek next door to
his grandmom's to partake of the early seating for breakfast and dinner
then returns for the late seating here. And we don't think he's too
smart eh?
Although he has lived most of his life sleeping under the stars, he will
spend an occasional very cold or very hot night in my office with his
brother Cappy. Einstein loves yard work and gardening although most of
his contributions are in the form of supervision. He's very adept at
helping select the ripest tomatoes as he sprawls out between the rows.
His other specialty is supervising the hanging of laundry on the line.
The old man of the neighborhood is getting a bit creaky and spends most
of his time napping; but just knowing he's around brings a sense of
peace and warmth to our lives. We are fortunate to have been chosen by
him to be his family.
