Buddy, the Cat of the Day
Name: Buddy
Age: Three years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Cat
Home: Pennsylvania, USA

Buddy is my gift from God. Two years ago Buddy showed up under my deck. At first I couldn't see him, but I would hear him at night meowing and crying. A few days later my daughter called me at work and said there was a beautiful cat under our deck but that he wouldn't come out.

When I arrived home after work my daughter was outside and pointed Buddy out to me under the deck. I called "kitty kitty" and he came right out to me, rubbing around my legs and purring - it was like he had been waiting for me. Buddy seemed to be in perfect health and when I took him to the vet I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he was a neutered male! We never saw any "lost cat" posters, or found out where he came from.

Buddy has been living inside with me since that day and has turned out to be a very sweet and loveable boy. Last fall we found a litter of six kittens under our shed and brought them in to wean them and then find good homes for them. Buddy took the kittens under his wing (actually paw) and acted like he was their daddy. He played with the kittens and let them sleep in his bed with him. That's them with him in the lower image.

I was thrilled to find good homes for all six of the kittens with friends and relatives. One of the kittens, Max, was adopted by my brother. Max still comes to visit when my brother goes out of town and he and Buddy are still the best of friends.

Buddy is special because he comes to greet me at the door when I return home from work or wherever I may have been. He also waits outside the bathroom door when I shower in the morning and gives me kisses when I come out all squeaky clean. Buddy has several nicknames including: Bud, Bunny, Bun, Bun Bun, Stinky Boy, Tinky Boy and Bunners. I think, amazingly, he responds to all of them.
