This
picture was taken in our front yard where Sam loves to play (but
she is an inside cat and only gets to go outside with supervision). Sam
(short for Samantha) came to us almost thirteen years ago when we picked her
up at the local pound. She was only four weeks old and had been dumped by
the side of the road with her brother. Our daughter had specified that
she had to have a gray cat and we were immediately drawn to Sam. We
took her to the vet and he said not to be real hopeful, that she might
not make it and he wasn't sure what type of diseases she may have.
After several weeks of handfeeding her she begin to grow a lot. She has
never had any health problems and has been the "princess" of our house.
She is quite regal and even those who visit call her "The Princess".
She is very selective about who handles her, but she has to be in the
middle of everything and her favorite time of the year is
Christmas. She really doesn't know she is a cat and has wonderful
facial expressions. Her favorite foods are mashed potatoes and Cheetos.
She comes and gently rubs your face with her paw when she wants to be
petted and has quite a vocabulary to let us know her specific needs.
She is very dainty and weighs in at only 9.5 pounds, but I think she has
some Main Coon in her. Our daughter has since left home and Sam is the
only "child" left at home now and we just can't imagine being without her.
