This
handsome little boy is Kimba! We never planned on getting a third
cat, as we were totally content and happy with our two boys,
Jake
the orange tabby and Spike the Bengal. Then one day while visiting the
cats at Pet Smart, a beautiful blue-eyed tabby/Siamese mix caught my
eye. The store manger told me what a sweet tempered cat he was...I held
him and he melted in my arms and I knew it was meant to be. I convinced
my husband that we had room in our hearts and home for a third kitty.
With great glee, I drove to the SPCA with the completed adoption papers,
only to be told that he had just been adopted! I was heartbroken. My
husband knew how disappointed I was, and we decided that we would get an
Abyssinian kitten, a breed we had been interested in when we got our
Bengal. The rest is history!
Kimba is unlike any other cat we've ever had. He has no fear; not of
loud noises, or even vacuum cleaners - he actually follows me from room
to room and tries to "hitch a ride"! Kimba is also the quietest cat
I've ever had. He rarely makes a sound, when he does, it's
a tiny squeak! He and his Bengal brother Spike are inseparable. When
they do get separated, Spike howls until we find his "brother". They
spend their days tearing through the house together and playing games;
their favorite game is football, played with their small nerf footballs.
Typical boys!
Kimba feels it is his job to keep the other cats clean, and spends a
good deal of time washing his brothers. He even washes the humans, and
gently nibbles on our fingers as we hold him. Although Jake has been
known to get annoyed at Spike the Bengal, because he teases him, he
never gets mad at Kimba. It is amazing how well they all get along, and
how quickly they all adjusted to a new kid in the house!
Although originally I was sad that the cat at Pet Smart was adopted by
someone else, I realize that if we had adopted him, we never would have
gotten Kimba, and I can't imagine life without him! I truly hope that
sweet tabby/Siamese is living in a wonderful home and is getting lots of
love.
Kimba is an absolutely delightful cat, he brings such joy and humor to
our lives. The Abyssinian is truly a wonderful breed of cat, I would
highly recommend them! But no one can have our Kimba!
