Latte, the Cat of the Day
Name: Latte
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Peach, Orange Tabby
Home: Seattle, Washington, USA

Latte came into our home in an exciting way. We were given his mother Tilley (who is a tortie calico). After we had Tilley in our home we discovered she was pregnant.

Labor Day (Sept 2002) Tilley went into Labor. (Even though we told her Labor day was no day for laboring). Her first born was a gray tabby, and then she had a tan/peach colored cat (and three others). My husband kept calling him mocha - because he looked like coffee. I quickly corrected him that a mocha must look like chocolate - and a mocha without chocolate would be a Latte. And so all the kitties became named after coffee. (Decaf, Latte, Caramel, Grinder, & Espresso). Which seemed appropriate in Starbucks town USA.

Latte was born breach - his mommy was confused and began removing the sack from the tail side first - and the kitten was clawing at the sac - for air I think. My husband and I broken his sack and using a warm wash cloth cleaned his face - as if it were the mother's tongue bathing him. From that day on Latte had a special place in our hearts. We knew we couldn't give him to anyone.

He has grown into a large cat - his color has darkened now that he has orange strips in his fur. Beautiful golden eyes - and he is the center of all attention. Loves to sleep with me at night - and he will let me know when I am late for bed - and he will also let me know when I have overslept the alarm too.

Latte loves water and will often jump to the top of our shower door to supervise, or request his water service at the sink. He is a very muscular cat -and by the way he walks around the house - I believe he thinks he is a tiger. Due to his activity level - it is difficult to get a picture of him - when he isn't sleeping.

I love his golden eyes that can just melt you. In fact, I just love Latte.
