This
is Haji Abdul George. His breed is unknown - but many breeders would bet
he is an Egyptian Mau or close cousin. George is a war orphan. He was
born under my tent in Afghanistan, he came to my attention at about four
to five weeks of age dirty, thirsty, and hungry. Despite orders to the
contrary I would not allow this precious creature of God to starve to
death. I spent over six months raising George and when the time came for
me to leave, friends that work for a government agency managed to
smuggle him out on a cargo flight. I was reunited with him three weeks
later, and we have not been separated since. George is a nut. He
frequently hunts gazelle in the house (where none exist, of course), and
helps me do absolutely everything. He opens locked doors, turns on
lights, opens drawers, closets and anything else that might look
interesting. He chatters and chirps incessantly, about any and
everything. George continually runs into other people he knew in
Afghanistan, it is odd they don't always recognize me, but they remember
George. It is a small world.
