Stacks
(short for Smokestacks) sure needs to work on his hunting
strategy! Stacks is an affectionate cat. It is impossible to lounge on
the sofa and not have him napping on your stomach or chest. We didn't
adopt him until he was about fourteen weeks old and he was raised with a
Golden Retriever, Black Lab, and small children. Our Vet said he was
the best "socialized" cat he'd seen. We have a Yellow Lab and he and
Stacks get along very well. As a matter of fact, Stacks makes friends
with all the neighborhood dogs because he knows how to "work" a dog.
Basically, he doesn't run from them!
He is an outstanding mouser and has rid our yard of moles. When my
husband and I work or just hang out in the yard both the dog, Tucker,
and Stacks follow us around the yard. Stacks will run ahead of us and
hide in shrubs and jump out to startle us. He especially likes to run
out at Tucker and stand up on his hind legs and smack at Tucker hind
quarters! He does catch the occasional bird but we discourage that
activity whenever we can. In this picture, he was only about seven months
old and was fascinated with the gathering stop for birds (bird feeder).
it was just a lucky, hysterical shot I got of him standing on top of the
bird feeder! Makes me laugh every time I see it. He's very comfortable
with other animals and humans and is also quite able to relax!
