Pearl
has enjoyed the life of plenty since nine weeks of age... a
pampered life with plenty of toys, treats, playmates and great health
too. As she has aged, she has outlived the dog and cat she grew up with
and other strays that have joined our family over the years that have
met untimely demises.
Bad news struck when she was diagnosed with cancer. Having lost her
soulmate of twelve years [our dog] to the same kind of cancer eight
months earlier, we were fearing the worst.
But this has a happy ending! It has been fourteen months since her first chemo
treatment, she is still in remission and a prime example that aggressive
cancer in elderly cats is not an immediate death sentence. She continues
to get monthly chemo and round the clock doses of pampering to keep her
physically and emotionally healthy and going strong.
She is a very special cat indeed, extremely affectionate and very
communicative. As you can see, she is very regal and regards herself the
"queen" of the household. Our hearts melt when we look into her blue
eyes and she gazes back with contentment and appreciation.
