In
June 1996, my stepmother Denise heard some meowing in a bush behind
my dad's house. It turned out to be an approximately two-month-old
kitten who had gotten stuck! Being fond of cats, she took it in.
However, she already owned a cat at that time, a sweet, fluffy Silver
Chinchilla Persian named Cotton. Knowing that my mom wanted a cat, she
offered the kitten to her, and she accepted. We saw him crouching
behind a pair of sneakers at my mom's house, and named him Sneakers!
He stayed at my mom's house last summer, when she developed an allergy.
Now he's at my dad's house again, as Cotton had since passed away.
Sneakers' favorite foods are as follows:
Tuna
Chicken
Catnip
Houseplants
Oddly enough, he's not that enthusiastic about salmon.
Sneakers has a strange habit. Often, when he sees a glass or cup of any
kind, he "purrposely" knocks it over. He also likes to run to my bedroom
when I'm closing the door, and stick his paw under the door to bat at
various straps and pens. When I open the door, he runs away to start the
cycle over again!
Speaking of running away, Sneakers recently ran away for four days, but one
night, we saw the motion detector light go on in the back yard, and a
tuxedo cat ran past. "That's Sneakers or his first cousin!" I said. We
coaxed him back in with some wet cat food. Overall, despite his
mischievousness, Sneakers is a great cat!
