Hi,
my name is Lilly and I came into my Mom's life at a time when she
really needed me the most. She lost her 13 1/2-year-old tiger cat,
Tigger, the week before Christmas. He was her bestest buddy in the
world. She was really sad. Although she still had his sister left, she
said she wasn't going to get another cat for a long time.
In January she discovered that the house was really, really lonely...
Tigger had been very animated and brought a lot of laughter to the house.
She hardly wanted to come home from work because she constantly thought
about him. One Sunday afternoon, she read in the paper that a group
called "Peaceable Kingdom" was having a pet adoption at a local pet
store. She decided to drive over just for the heck of it, where she met
and talked with my Foster Mom Lori. Believe it or not... I was actually
there in a cage... sound asleep, but Lori thought she would like another
foster cat who looked like Tigger. Mom liked Peaceable Kingdom because
we're all fixed, have all of our shots, cannot be declawed and we're
fostered out so you know what we're like! She went home that day
without any of us, but decided to take Lori's number home with her.
By mid-week, she was so lonely that she called Lori who asked her what
kind of cat she was looking for... when she described what Tigger had
been like, Lori told her that she had the perfect cat... me!! Since I
was going to another adoption clinic on Saturday, Mom said she would
meet Lori there and see what I was like. My Foster Mom had adopted me
previously to another couple who wanted to "practice" to see if they
could take care of me before they had a baby. Well... they had a baby,
then they decided they didn't want me anymore! I came back to Lori's
house just one week before Mommy came to the first clinic.
That Saturday, Mom showed up and said she really liked me, but she kept
going to a little kitten that looked like me but wasn't me! Someone
explained to her that if she liked me, I would be harder to adopt than
the kitten because everyone wants kittens. Mom decided that I was the
one for her and home we went with a scratching pad, new litterbox and a
new mouse!
Now there's laughter in the house again and Mom tells "Grandmom" that
once again the house is alive! Mom wasn't used to someone jumping all
over the furniture and got a little mad when I straddled the big screen
tv!! Mom says I do a lot of things like Tigger, like sleeping under
the covers at night with her, growling at the birdies at the bird
feeder, meeting her at the door when she comes home, and talking to her
all of the time. On the other hand, I'm also different than Tigger too
because I love chasing after a laser pointer, and I just wish that my
Mom would let me take showers and baths with her because I love water!!
She locks me out when she takes a shower, so I have to lay there and
stick my paw under the door.
As for my older sister... she and I are not exactly close. In fact,
she hisses at me all of the time because she's jealous I'm here. She's
getting better though, although I almost gave her a heart attack the
other day when I jumped around a corner at her, all I want to do is
play!!! (She does nothing but sleep and eat - no fun there!!)
Mom says that she would never take me back to my foster house and I know
that I've got a permanent home... I even have my own baby blanket to
sleep with!! Mom hurries home really fast now after work to see me and
always gives me a hug kiss "hello." We're all one big, happy (except
for Pooh, but hey... she'll get over it!) family. Just wait to you have
me around Christmas, Mom. If you think I can climb high now, wait
until you see me scale a Christmas tree!!!
