Zorro, the Cat of the Day
Name: Zorro

Kind: Norwegian Forest Cat
Home: Lexington, Kentucky, USA

This is my kitten Zorro! Although he is doing wonderfully now, his life started out rough. I found him on the side of the road one day last June. I remember running to the spot where he sat and looking down upon him. He was covered in burs, bits of leaves and his eyes were crusted shut. He was so tiny! I picked him up and took him back to the car. I knew I had to help him! It was out in the country in the middle of nowhere, he wasn't safe by himself! So, I took him home and to the vet. His diagnosis was as follows: he had internal and external fleas, an eye infection, and two types of respiratory problems. Worst of all, the vet wasn't sure if he would make it. He was put on three types of medicine and he hated it! His least favorite part was the ointment that had to be put in his eyes! I always felt so awful when it had to be given to him! Soon, he recovered and gained weight and strength. This was very good news to all of us! This picture was taken soon after he started to recover from his illnesses.

He immediately made friends with our family dog, Ruby! Now, he and Ruby are best friends. Zorro follows her around everywhere and cries when she leaves for her walk everyday! He waits and watches out the window until she returns home! He is so faithful to her!

When Zorro first arrived, our other cat, Emo, was still with us. Zorro loved to chase him and would try to play. Since Emo was elderly, he didn't enjoy it but was very tolerant with him.

I love Zorro so much! We have such a special bond. He shows his love in different ways than other cats do. He doesn't like to be picked up and held but will come and purr on your legs or fall asleep on your feet! I can not imagine life without Zorro! He is such good company and shows so much affection! If I have had a bad day he is always there to cheer me up! I am so very fortunate to have found such a wonderful kitten like Zorro. He is so beautiful and is a gift from God!
