Keats
is a tuxedo cat we rescued from the Virginia Beach, Virginia SPCA.
He weighs fifteen pounds and loves to chase paper balls and retrieve
them like a dog. As his name would suggest, he loves to go into our
library and curl up in a comfortable chair. This is a photograph of
Keats at a party at our house. He is a very formal cat.
Keats can be affectionate and independent depending on what time of day
you find him. In the mornings, he is extremely affectionate, even
interrupting his breakfast to be played with. When you meet him in the
morning, he does what I call a "Keats dive", where he runs and slides
into your feet and proceeds to rub and nip them. Later in the day
though, he usually asserts his independence by hiding in his favorite
spots and taking long naps. Keats loves to chase bugs. When he spots a
bug in the house he will relentlessly chase it until it disappears or he
eats it. Keats is a plebeian cat. I have bought him three or four
different beds and at least ten different toys, but despite all these
options, he prefers to sleep on a newspaper or plastic bag and play with
crumpled paper balls.
