My
boyfriend and I had been looking to purchase another cat and after
careful consideration decided a British Blue would be perfect. We
found several breeders in the area but none had any available kittens.
One Sunday morning, we tried a breeder in Yorkshire, who had one male
kitten left. We said yes on the phone and drove two hours to go and see
him.
Apollo was not shy in walking up to meet us, after an hour and several
cups of teas later, I was actually cradling him like a baby and he was
falling asleep in my arms, I couldn't believe a cat would actually let
me pick them up turn them on their back and hold them like this, it
was love at first site. We had two moggies at home and they certainly
would never let us do that.
Apollo is extremely vocal with myself, I can actually have
conversations with him, he acts more like a dog than a cat. When I am
out at work late at night, he will not enter the front room to stay
with my boyfriend, yet as soon as my car pulls up, he is sat by the
front door waiting to greet me. He follows me around from room to
room. He has even tried to come and lye on me whilst I was in the bath
(until he slipped in _ Hence to say he is a little more careful now).
Every morning, when the alarm goes of he jumps on my chest from the
window ledge (and at 5kg now it certainly wakes me up), licks
underneath my nose to wake me up and make sure I don't press snooze.
As he has got older Apollo tends to sleep in obscure places, like a
box of potatoes, my in-tray in my office, an open handbag than
actually sleep on my lap. However, when I am alone watching telly at
night, I always get a long cuddle. (it's as if he is embarrassed,
being a man to show his affection in public). Apollo always sleeps in
the bedroom with us, usually at the bottom of the bed to start with
and then on my chest, or round my neck as it gets colder. My boyfriend
has had several shocks thinking I have turned into a werewolf in the
middle of the night (no just the cat on my face).
Due to the happiness Apollo has bought us, we have recently purchased
a new British Blue Kitten, Apollo loves her to bits, and its great to
watch them playing, one either side of the curtain, sticking a paw
underneath every now and then (although it's a good job I haven't got
expensive curtains). He even waits for her to start eating before he
does, a real gentleman.
