Punkin
is the most fun cat that I have ever met. She sleeps all day and
plays all evening. She enjoys playing fetch with my hair bands and
chasing anything that moves. Her favorite toy is her "cube." It's like
a little play cave for her and she likes to roll around in it. Punkin has
lots and lots of toys. When she loses her toys underneath the couch or
the refrigerator, we do "Toy Recovery" with a yard stick so she can have
use of all of her toys again. She likes actual cat toys, but she is
also a fan of bottle caps and the little twisty things from gallon milk
or water bottles (see her picture). She is a very good girl in that she
only scratches on her scratching post. She doesn't damage anything and
that makes her mommy and daddy very happy.
Besides playing a lot, she is also very affectionate. Although she can
be independent at times, she does enjoy her hug and cuddle time. Being
a typical mommy, I want to give her hugs all the time, but I try to give
her a break. She would usually rather be playing than hugging.
I adopted Punkin from the Humane Society, which I feel was a great
choice. She was one of a littler of seven kittens (8 weeks old) who had
been abandoned. She was the only calico of the litter and I loved her
the second I saw her. As soon as they handed her to me she looked up at
me with her big kitten eyes and then drifted off to sleep in my arms.
They directed me to the visiting room so I could get to know her and
make my decision. I told them I didn't need that time, that I just
wanted to sign the papers and take my new baby home. It truly was love
at first sight with her. She is a very special little girl and I
encourage anyone who wants to extend their family think about adopting a
homeless animal. It is a truly rewarding experience to help an animal
in need.
