About Us
Mouse, the Cat of the Day
Name: Mouse
Age: Four and a half years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Domestic shorthair
Home: Zwolle, the Netherlands

This is Mouse. We got her when she was nine weeks old and named her Mouse because she loved her toy mouse; however, we soon after called her Monster-Mouse. She was like a miniature tornado! She would fly around the room and destroy everything. She used to climb up my legs, when she was too small to jump high, and my legs where literally covered in a thousand scratch marks. She has so much personality and she doesn't do anything she doesn't want to do. She's an extremely difficult cat but I can't imagine life without her. She has become a lot calmer though since her brother and sister, Slippers and Socks, arrived. The three of them get along wonderfully.

Mouse is my baby girl. She is always near me. When I first got her, she always slept on my hair at night, purring in my ear, I soon got used to it. Now she sleeps at my feet. Mouse doesn't like being combed or being put on a leash, or being held. She is also allergic to fleas and perfumed kitty litter. And it's almost impossible to give her flea medicine or worm tablets. Taking her to the vet is even worse. But even with all these difficulties we just love her.

She's not just a cat but a cross between a cat, a dog, a meerkat and a human. She growls like a dog and stands on her hind legs like a meerkat and her personality is somewhere in between a cat and a human. Most people are afraid of her because of the way she looks at people and sometimes she just decides not to like somebody and makes this known by hissing, but she never scratches. To my husband and me she is the sweetest cat. She lies on my lap more and more often, and loves to be petted and kissed. Her eyes are definitely her most magnificent feature. When I look into her eyes I know exactly what mood she's in. Sometimes they are full of contentment and love and other times they look wild and then you had better watch out. She is the most magnificent cat!
