A
year and a half ago, I was standing in the cat room of our local
animal shelter trying to decide which mewling kitty was the one for me.
I had set my eyes on a different cat earlier, but it had proven to have
a nasty temper. I was getting to the end of the cages with no luck and
began to lose hope of finding a cat I could save when there she was.
My little Boo-butt was lying like a queen in her litter box with an
expression that didn't beg me to take her home; it commanded me to. I
fell in love with her glossy black coat, and her intelligent eyes
immediately. Little did I know then what a lovable little terror she
would turn out to be.
You never can tell a book by its cover, and you can never tell a cat by
its shelter début. I never would have guessed that this small black ball
of fur would be the best escape artist of all time. Nor could I have
known her many quirks. She always trims our plants for us, and insists
that art is a seat to be sat on. She chirps at the birds outside, and
insists that she belongs at least three feet above our heads. When she
tears through the house and vaults the couch she looks just like a
miniature Black Panther ready for the fresh laundry kill.
For all her merits and flaws, we love out Boo more than anything. She is
always there when I come home for break, and she is a never-ending
entertainment and pest for my mum and sister. No food is safe, no door
too closed for this talented cat.
