This
is Newton. I've had Newton for ten years, since he was a wee little
kitten of five weeks or so. I don't know how old he was really, but he
was too young to be on his own in the shelter, and was being given a
flea bath, much to his displeasure, when I found him. I walked around
the shelter with him in a towel helping to dry him off while I shopped
for my new kitty. After three hours and not being able to decide, I
looked down at him and said, "you'll do!" He went home with me that
day, and he's been such an entertaining kitty for the past decade.
I've never met a cat that thought he was so human - he has so many
voices and meows, from a very soft whisper (in the morning, when trying
to wake me up quietly) to a loud, sharp "bark" when he is trying to get
my attention, and many thousands more in between. Everyone who meets
Newton loves him. He is very outgoing and has to check out anyone or
anything new in his environment. His favorite toy is a belt. He and I
wrestle as though he thinks I am an equal, and he is very noisy when we
do. But he never really tries to hurt me, no matter how riled up our
play gets, he always uses "soft paws". He is very regal in his stance,
but is really a big baby and still goes into a trance when he's cuddled
and pretends to nurse on my shoulder because he was weaned too early. He
may be a little bit damaged, but he's an incredibly special cat with a
huge personality, and I don't know what I would do without Newton in my life!
