Buster, the Cat of the Day
Name: Buster
Age: Five years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Fairfield, Ohio, USA

This is Buster, or better known as Bubbie. I got him from my vet when he was a very small kitten. My cat of eighteen years, Scout, had passed away 6 months prior, and I was determined not to get another cat right away. But there has never been a time in my life when I didn't have at least one cat, so when my vet called me to tell me he had some kittens he wanted me to see, I couldn't refuse!

Buster's mom was a Siamese who had accidentally gotten out of the house. All of his siblings were Orange Tabbies; he was the only black kitten in the litter. He was also the only one who was interested in me...the rest wanted to play, but he wanted to snuggle. Well, I should have known, him being the only black one, that he was a little devil in disguise! I took him home that day, and within a week, he had become a little terror! Where was that sweet little guy that had made me fall madly in love? He continued to be a terror until he was two years old. We adopted another kitten from PetsMart, Wilson, and Buster immediately took to him. Having another cat in the house actually calmed him down, and now he is definitely his mommy's "baby". He has to be wherever I am in the house, always. If I'm sitting, he's on my lap; if I'm sleeping, he's in the crook of my arm; if I'm taking a shower, he's in there, too! It's such a big change, but I'm happy. I love affectionate cats!

Buster is special in a lot of ways, but he one thing that makes him stand out from most cats is that he loves to floss his teeth every day! I'm not kidding. If he hears you in the bathroom and hears the floss coming out of the box, watch out. He's in there and up on the sink in a flash. He will not leave you alone until you floss his teeth. Of course we never let him get ahold of the floss himself, as that can be harmful if a cat ingests it, but Buster demands that we floss his teeth!

My uncle took a picture of this because he couldn't believe it. That picture is now in his dentist's office in New Orleans, and in my dentist's office here in Ohio. My dentist uses it to get children to floss. After all, if a cat can do it every day, so can kids!

Buster is truly a great cat, and we wouldn't take a million dollars for him. We love him very much!
