Mentioning
my cat, Tusker, is a must. He is the only pet playing host
to our home in Ontario, Canada. This little blue Burmese of mine is the
closest thing to my heart. I was lucky to receive him as a thirteenth
Birthday present. He was already two years old when we purchased him
(now four), but well trained and a winner of ribbons in several cat
shows. His hefty price tag was a concern at first, but he was well
worth it.
His color is very unique. Our vet was baffled to what breed he was as
she hadn't seen such a coat on a Burmese before. His soft, black nose
is always cold and wet and a pleasure to kiss (a gesture usually
returned by his lovely pink tongue). His eyes like to change from amber
to green as the day progresses. Though we didn't name him (and his
previous owner hadn't named him "Tusker" for this reason), Tusker has
two white, protruding canine teeth that hang over his bottom lip.
Tusker is a very affectionate cat, though he sometimes gets riled and
scraps with the males (my father and brother), but is still docile. He
is almost always licking and giving grooming bites. He likes to
head-butt and rub foreheads when he is in a loving mood. He is cutest
when he is excited and in a playful mood and his eyes become dilated and
the size of saucers. When the day is done and he's spent, Tusker comes
to bed with me and sleeps under the sheets amongst my legs. I then
awake to his bad breath, but warm kisses. He is the best cure for the
blues and is a meaningful part of my life.
