Meet
Lola Delores Herbig (as in her big blue eyes). What's so special
about Lola? First of all, her name comes from a couple of characters in
a Jimmy Buffett Song, Frank and Lola. Delores Herbig (as in her Big
Brown eyes) was a character on the ShowTime series Dead Like Me. When we
got Lola we just felt like she needed a great big name because she was
so tiny.
I wasn't feeling very well, and had been off work for several weeks, so
in an effort to cheer me up my son suggested we go to the local fish
store so he could show me these really huge fish they had. Unexpectedly
they had a cage with four kittens in it. Two Lynx Points and two black and
white kittens. I grew up with Siamese and have had several over the
years but by far the most loveable one was this huge Lynx Point named
Sam. He was affectionate and had the most outgoing personality. I was
immediately drawn to the baby Lynx Points. My husband is more than not a
cat fan. But when we got home and told him about the kittens, I
explained that while I'd like to have them both, I'd settle for one. I
was home alone during the days and it would be nice to have company and
I said it would make me feel so much better to have a baby kitten to
love. He thought about it for an hour and said, if you want it that bad,
then you better pick a good one.
We went down and picked out Lola, brought her home and he has been in
love with her ever since. And, strangely, within the week, I was feeling
alot better. She's a big girl now but everyone loves her. Even my
grandson learned to say Lola and crawled after her before he said
"Poppy" or "Nana". She's cuddly, sweet and just adorable. She even has
her own room. That's her bed she sitting on in the photo.
