Terra, the Cat of the Day
Name: Terra
Age: One year old
Gender: Female
Kind: Tortie Point Siamese
Home: Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada

Terra is a very special cat, a former American from Virginia. We found her at Siamese Rescue in Virginia and fell in love!

We'd lost our older flame point Siamese Canoe a year before and bought a Blue Point Siamese kitten to help ease the grief that our Maine Coon Maggie May was trying to deal with. Maggie had been Canoe's life long companion and was in a deep depression. The new baby didn't help much, Maggie was going on thirteen years of age and dealing with a rambunctious little guy was not her cup of tea. Almost a year into this new relationship it was obvious to everyone that although Maggie was tolerating Blue, he was lonely. We were living in a house of two solitudes. He seriously needed a companion of his own and someone to play with. We didn't think bringing in another small kitten would go down too well with Maggie, so adopting an older kitten or cat seemed like the right thing to do. I was already a member of the chat board SICC (Siamese International Cat Club) and they link to Siamese Rescue, so it's just a click away from the photo gallery of all those adorable Siamese cats looking for forever homes. I browsed there often just to read their stories and cheer them on as they found new love and caring homes and left the center or their foster homes.

After asking a few questions I found out that it might be possible for me to adopt as well, and I started looking at those photos and stories in earnest. Then one day, there she was!! She even had a little video that cried out to both me and my husband. We knew she was ours! We went through the adoption procedures and almost lost her to another adopter the day before we were approved, but it was just meant to be!

Terra left the Center in Virginia and stayed in Baltimore for a week getting ready for her long trip to Montreal. A number of people took part in her transfer on the "Meezer Express" but in one weekend, just two days, we finally met our girl in Saint Albans Vermont and brought her home.

This was just meant to be!! Terra's a friendly, loving girl who's even won over Maggie May!! Maggie is fully out of her depression and Blue couldn't be happier, he has someone who's so willing to play with him and also willing to wash his ears about 8 times a day!! We've been trying to teach her a little French, but it keeps coming out "Le Meow Y'all!"...
