Chula, the Cat of the Day
Name: Chula
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Warren, Maine, USA

Chula is a two-year-old tortoise shell that was born on September 11th. But that's not all that makes Chula special. She has seven toes on both front paws - that's one toe shy of having two whole paws on each leg! She also has five toes on both back paws. She balances on her hind quarters and raises her front paws in the air, waiting for combat with the dog! Chula usually wins! When she does that, we call her "frying pan hands" because her paws are so huge! Another thing Chula loves is the shower! She can't wait for one of us to take one so she can come on in. Here is a picture of her in the tub, waiting patiently for me to get in.

I wanted a black cat to get for my son on Halloween and when I heard she was born on September 11th, I knew she would be special. She loves to chew on plastic and get in any cupboard that happens to get left open. We will hear her sometimes and not know where it's coming from so we'll start checking cupboards and sure enough, she pops out! She is so smart because she'll ask for the door to go out and in the middle of the night, because we're sleeping, she'll scratch on the steel door so I'll hear it and get up and let her out. Same for coming in - she'll scratch outside so I hear it and let her in. Every now and then, I'll walk into the bedroom and notice a lump under the bedspread. Chula will have wiggled her way under to take a nap! She's a crazy cat - goes after anything that moves: flies, mice, dust bunnies, caps off milk containers, elastics, paper - you name it.
