Here
is Zuzu. She was found motherless in an alley with her brother at
three weeks. I got her to foster at four weeks old from Chicagoland Animal
Rescue in Downers Grove, IL. They have their cats at local Petsmarts
to adopt. Because she was so young when I got her, I had to bottle-feed
her six times a day and do what experts call "pottying" to get her to go
to the bathroom. I had to rub a wet paper towel against her back-end
to stimulate her to eliminate. This is something the mother does with
her tongue to get her kittens to go potty. I did this until she learned
to go in the litter box, for approximately three weeks. She was as small as
a mouse when I got her and was so delicate. She has turned into a real
feisty little girl, bouncing around the house with the big kids. I have
two other one year old cats and she can play with the best of them. She is
very loveable and really considers me her mama. She will climb into bed
with me at night and sleep under my chin, purring the whole time. I
just adore her! I named her after the character in "It's a Wonderful
Life". Zuzu was Jimmy Stewart's youngest daughter.
Because she had such a rough start in life, she is very special to me.
And even more so because her little brother, who I was also fostering,
didn't make it. I haven't adopted her yet, but will do so after she is
old enough to be spayed, and the rescue clears her. Fostering has been a
very rewarding experience for me and I would recommend it to anyone.
Zuzu brings me great joy and I want to share her with everyone.
