Upon
moving into our new home in 2003, we decided our first cat, Oscar,
needed some company. So we went to the Athens Area Humane Society to
track down a suitable companion. When we walked in the adoption room,
Dash was lying on his back and while looking at us upside down, he
chirped at us and it was love at first sight.
Dash is a fabulous cat. He's energetic, affectionate, inquisitive, and
extremely vocal. He loves to climb anything and everything (ladders,
bookshelves, mini-blinds), and he'll play by himself for hours chasing
his favorite milk rings around the kitchen floor. He loves to sit and
purr next to us on the couch and must always have one paw in contact
with your leg or arm.
Dash has a wonderfully soft coat, so he's great to pet too. Any time a
cabinet, drawer, or door opens in the house, he's instantly there to see
what's going on and if he can help in any way. He has a number of
different meows, chirps, and growls, and all mean quite different
things, the most important of course being "mmrrear", which means feed me.
Oscar doesn't mind Dash too much - Oscar's much more laid back - but
definitely enjoys the show Dash puts on at least once a day - the
crazies, as we like to call it. This is when Dash runs around the house
with ears back at top speed, completely living up to his name. We love
this little guy and are glad to have him in our home.
