This
is Sally. My husband and I adopted her from the animal shelter,
thinking that our other (female) cat, Peetey, needed a friend. Boy, were
we wrong! The two of them have never quite clicked, but have settled
into mutual states of independence and live-and-let-live (although I do
catch them playing "chase" once in a while.)
When we went looking for a second cat to adopt I was thinking of a
finding a boy, but my husband walked up to Sally's cage (she was named
Blackie, at the shelter... why, we don't know), and she immediately
rolled over on her back and showed us her soft little tummy ... and we
fell in love!
When we brought her home from the shelter she was really sick for
about a week with the cat cold upper respiratory virus they sometimes
get. My husband was on summer break from teaching and stayed by her side
the entire time, nursing her back to health and taking her for hydration
shots. Poor little thing was light as a feather! But she pulled through
just fine, thank goodness!
Sally senses when we wake up in the morning and is immediately on the
bed saying "breakfast!" in her dainty little meow. That's about the only
thing she ever demands... she loves her breakfast. She also loves to
sit in dirt, as you can see from the picture. She makes friends
immediately with anyone who comes in the house (she tried to make
friends with the little terrier we dogsat once, but the dog was a bit
too yappy for laid-back Miss Sally.)
She's just a sweet little girl, loves attention, loves hugs and kisses
and loves to be brushed. She is as mellow and darling as they come.
We're so glad she chose us.
