I
adopted Gaia from the humane society when she was just eight months
old. She was so skinny and mangled looking, but I was instantly
attracted to her. I thought that she was the most beautiful cat ever,
and now she knows that. Her name, Gaia, means mother earth and it is
also the ancient greek goddess of the earth. She is definitely a goddess!
Gaia is a wonderful cat. She follows me all around the house like a
dog, and she always needs to smell anything that I eat. She will eat
anything given the chance. Gaia loves to be brushed and she even
brushes herself. She is the goddess in the house and you could never
tell her differently. She is very bratty to people and animals that she
doesn't know, but if she decides that you are alright she will never
leave you alone. She loves to be on laps and to kneed. I get kitty
massages when I go to bed. Gaia has a two year old daughter, Luna, who
is just as great as Gaia but crazy in a silly way. She also lives
with a one year old half German Shepherd and half Border Collie named
Atira. Luna and Atira get along great, but Gaia is still convinced that
Atira is taking up too much of her space. Ati will be minding her
business chewing on a bone and Gaia will walk by her and stop when she
notices her. She goes right up to her and wacks her one (which is ok
because she doesn't have front claws) then walks away, just to let the
dog know who is boss. What a brat!
I love Gaia despite her attitude. She is a great cat and friend, and
personally I think that she is so attached to me that she could not live
without me! That probably goes both ways. I am so lucky to have found
her in that sad little cage; I just can't believe that anyone could have
ever given her up.
