Hi ... just hopping in to say Happy Easter! Here I am, all ready for the parade. Hope the Easter Bunny leaves me eggs filled with catnip. I'm told I look very cute in this picture so that must be why everyone is laughing.

Mom and Dad named me Deacon because I'm all black except for a white patch on my throat that they say looks like I have on a clerical collar. I'm a pretty big boy and can reach the kitchen counter top with my front paws while standing on the floor. Mom calls me her love-bucket because I like to curl up with her every night and lay my head on her pillow and purr til she falls asleep. Sometimes if Dad goes to bed early I might do that with him, just so he doesn't feel left out.

A couple years ago I wasn't feeling too good so I went to the doctor and after a bunch of tests, she said I had congestive heart failure. She didn't think I'd last too long; but I've been taking a few pills every single day and I feel great! Mom says I'm the best pill taker ever. My brother Barney has a thyroid condition and Mom says he's the worst pill taker. He waits for her to turn around and then spits 'em out. I've tried to tell him they're to make him better but he won't listen. Brothers are like that.

As you can see, I love hats. My favorites are sock hats. Dad takes a pair of his socks and puts them on my head so they hang down on each side. They call it "The Basset Hound Look" whatever that means. I just sit a purr and they tell me I look very handsome. Sometimes Dad ties the bottoms together under my chin... then we all laugh.

When I was born I was the only boy and had four sisters. My furry-mom lives across the street with one of those sisters and another sister lives next door with my grandparents. Another sister, Murphy, is here with me and my blended family consisting of Barney, Andy, Mindy, and Winky. Mom and Dad love us all very much and I think I'm just about the luckiest guy in the world.
