We
adopted Rufus ten years ago from a rescue center. We went in to
see the cats who had access to a large grassy area. They were all
lovely but it was Rufus who marched up to us and barged past our legs
for a stroke. He picked us. We have never looked back since. He loves
being brushed and chasing bits of string under newspaper. Sometimes he
brings us a present in the shape of live mouse (in the middle of the
night) which he lets go in the bedroom. He does a funny howl and then
its a race against time as to who reaches the mouse first - if we get
it, we release it back outside, but if Rufus gets it, oops! Usually we
win. Other presents have included two bats, one carp and a couple of
small birds, all of which were brought in alive and very gently to us and
all were successfully released or returned to their rightful owners!
Rufus loves waking us up in the morning by patting our lips or stroking
our hair. He has a lovely loud purr. He isn't a lap cat but does
follow us wherever we go. We love him so much and cannot imagine life
without him.
