About
three years after my beloved cat Bonkers died, my family agreed to
get a dog. We were going to the NHSPCA about once a week to find the
perfect dog. Now we had only owned siamese sealpoint cats for as long
as I have been alive, so a dog was a new thing.
While we were looking for a dog, for some amusement we went to look at
the cats. Going in there one day, we found this wonderful cat named
Damien, very sweet and looked to be some kind of sealpoint mix. After a
couple days of talking it over, my parents agreed to adopt the cat. When
we went to the shelter the next day, however, we found out that Damien
had been adopted. As we looked around, one cat caught my eye. He looked
like the cat I had lost. Asking about him, we found out that he had come
from the same household as Damien. When we took him into the petting
room, he headbutted me and licked my chin, and I knew that he was the
one. His name is now Bennitora but we all call him "Benni" for short.
We adopted him and took him home that day. Now we have another cat named
crackers, who was Bonkers' twin sister. She still hasn't grown to like
him, but Benni tolerates her attitude with the patience of a saint, and
he tolerates our new dog too. If one of them gets out of line, he'll
give them a nice bonk, but he never uses his claws. He headbutts, licks
and hugs you, he is my pride and joy.
