This
my baby, Squirt. My son originally found him in the back of the
shop where he was working. He and another fella herd this noise and
found him out in the middle of the grass all by himself at three days old,
so my son called me several times that evening which by the way was one
our colder days of October. Squirt was born 10/30/2003. He said he found
a kitten, I told my son we already have a dog and I didn't really want a
cat but he was persistent. Only living a short distance away I went over
to his job and saw this adorable little baby, I thought he was older
when my son called, the rest is history.
Squirt is very independent, but he does not like being left home by
himself for lengths of time. He will let you know by ignoring you, i
recently had to watch my granddaughter and was gone all day and recently
went to St. Augustine even longer, he wouldn't even let me touch him. I
guess that was my punishment for being gone for so long. He sat in the
hallway in front of my bedroom glaring at me, all I could do is giggle
at his behavior and talk gently to him to let him know I was sorry.
After a couple of hours he came up to me as if to say "ok, I forgive
you."
He loves to sleep with me, and loves to climb in my arms to be cuddled
and give each other lots of bumps, purrs and licks (no, I don't lick
him). He likes to also climb on my shoulders. He sleeps in my closet on
my sleeping bag for solitude, especially when my granddaughter comes
over! He will always run and hide, as she is so persistent on chasing
him.
It depends on his mood whether he's affectionate toward people. Toward
me he is always loving ,with a hint of deviousness. He always seems to
want to love on me but he's like any boy - "ok mom that's enough," and
will give my arm or hand a nip to stop.
He isn't much on tricks but when the notion hits him he will initiate a
game of fetch. He likes to play with the feather toys and jumps
extremely high which I get the biggest thrill to see him do. He has an
ostrich beanie baby that he grew up with that he considers his own
personal baby. Squirt is not just a cat to me his is my constant
companion, he is loved by me as much as my granddaughter.
He goes on vacation with us and travels when ever I leave town, he has
traveled all over the USA, I and Squirt got in the truck with my husband
and went on an excursion for six months, at first he was terrified and
hid under the covers for about three weeks, but he slowly came out of his
hiding place and is an excellent travel cat. I hope that helps you know
Squirt a little better he is a joy for me. He is the best kitty that I
could possibly ask for in life.
