I
adopted Sweet Pea from the local Humane Society when he was twelve weeks
old. He arrived at the shelter with a litter of kittens, and because he
was not mature enough, spent two weeks in foster care. When I saw him
at the shelter, he was in a tall cage, climbing the walls. He was not a
happy kitten and meowed loudly, trying to get my attention. It was as
though he was saying "get me out of here", "Get Me Out of Here", "GET ME
OUT OF HERE!!!" As soon as they put him in my arms he started purring
and I couldn't resist him. He went home with me an hour later. His
real name is Scooter, but after a while I realized I keep calling him
Sweet Pea, and the name has stuck.
Sweet Pea drinks water by dipping his paw into the water dish and
lapping it off. His favorite toys are little mice that rattle, and
he chases and retrieves them for me to throw again. He also likes to
drop his toys into his water dish. However, he doesn't want to share
his toys with his cat mate, Grady. He is a very active, fun little cat,
and I am very fortunate to have him in my life.
