My
name is Sir Baby Gonzalez and my breed is Bombay. I'm very close to
my mom and dad. I always meet them at the door when they come home from
work. As you could see in my picture I'm a very spoiled brat.
Mom here: I can tell you more about Baby. You're probably wondering how
he got his name. My husband and I went to the SPCA one Saturday
afternoon just to look around, and there were two 3 1/2 month-old
kittens, one was a long-haired kitten, and the other one was black and
looked very lonely and scared. Long story short we decided to take the
black kitten. Now how he got his name ... They put this black kitten in
a box and we had to wait our turn. When it came time for the clerk to
take him out of the box, he didn't want to come out. I then said, "oh
baby, come out". The little black kitten just looked at me, and I said
to my husband that will be his name - Baby. My husband said that his full
name will be Sir Baby Gonzalez. Baby very quickly became part of the
family and adjusted very well to his surroundings.
His personality: Baby shies away from any one that he doesn't know. Once
he gets to know their scent, then he comes around. He always greets us
at the door when we come home. When I come home, it is automatic that
Baby and I do "our thing" which is running to the bedroom and jump on
the bed so that he can give me a kiss (lick) on the nose. Then, of
course he gets his treats or as we call it, his num-num nummies.
Tricks or games: He has his mice and rats toys to play with. I mimic my
voice so that he thinks that the mice and rats are talking to him. Then
I toss them to him. When I go to bed at night, he sometimes will bring
the mouse to me so that I can toss it. Once I toss the mouse, he will
carry the mouse back in his mouth and jump on the bed for me to toss
again. This happens a couple times before he gets played out.
If there's a fly or moth in the house, he will chase it until he gets
it. This could go on for hours ... When the alarm clock goes off and I
keep hitting the snooze button, Baby will jump on me and then head
bump and kiss me until I actually get up.
Baby is very affectionate. When my husband and I are sitting in the
kitchen, he will come around both us and rub up against our legs. When
either one of us are on the computer, he will jump on the back of the
chair, sit and watch us. He has to be around one of us all the time. As
far as Baby being independent... he is. He likes to sit on the perch
that my husband made for him that is directly below both the kitchen and
living room windows. He can sit there for hours and just look outside at
the birds and rabbits. When our neighbors arrive or leave in their cars,
he comes out with a meow which sounds like meh-hiec. My husband and I
just laugh.
Recently, my husband and I locked ourselves out of our apartment.
Luckily, the screen in the bedroom window was on backwards, and my
husband was able to get it off. I then started to crawl in the window
head first only to be confronted with Baby on the bed hissing at me. I
couldn't stop laughing ... It took Baby a few moments to realize that it
was me. We then thought that he would probably do this to an intruder.
Good watch cat!!!
We hope that you enjoyed reading about Baby and just how special he is
to both of us.
