Six years ago, as I was putting food down in the woods for a feral
colony of cats I saw my little Chino. All of the others scattered as I
set down the bowls and prepared to feed, all except my Chino. I had not
seen him in the group before and was amazed that he seemed to not even
notice that I was there. He looked up to the sky and watched a bird pass
by overhead. Then I realized it was because he was deaf. His beautiful
blue eyes gave him away!
So I gently grabbed the little dude before he had the chance to scramble
away with his family. I brought him home with me, cleaned up his dirty
ears and nose, and plied him with unconditional love. He has been my
constant and dear companion ever since. He tested positive to feline
leukemia and I was told he would probably succumb by the age of two - he
is now six! Every day with him is a pure and loving gift!
