Lucy
is my little angel and has changed my life. After our family cat
had to be put down in June of 2005, we were deeply saddened. We had all
taken turns caring for our dear little boy and he was missed terribly by
all. The beginning of 2006 was a very challenging time for me, dealing
with multiple family illnesses and a devastating break-up. By late
summer, I knew that I was ready for another kitty cat and started to put
the feelers out there. I began "interviewing" cats, and all my friends
began sending me pictures and emails about cats in need of good homes.
I wanted to take them all! But my little Lucy captured my heart from
the first moment I saw her.
In September, Lucy had been dumped at a middle school that my friend
worked at along with her six kittens. The kittens were fortunate enough
to all find homes, but I wanted a cat that was a little older. When I
overheard my friend speaking of this "Mama Cat" that had been roaming
around their classrooms, my ears perked up. She explained that she was
silver... my favorite color! I knew it was a sign and I arranged a
meeting.
By the end of the month, she was comfortably safe and warm (not to
mention spoiled!!) in my home. She has been the greatest medicine for
me and every day with her is a joy. She has been an integral part in
helping to bring happiness into my life again. My dear friend (and
fellow cat lover) Lynne came along with me to pick her up and take her
to the Vet to be checked out before I brought her home, and this forever
secured her position as "Lucy's Godmother." She has helped Lucy and I
get settled, taught me how to clip her nails, and takes amazing care of
her whenever I'm away. For this I will be forever grateful. Lynne was
the one who told me about this site and I would like to extend my
greatest love and sympathy for her and her twenty-year-old cat Sable who had
to be put down this February. Sable will live in our hearts forever.
