This
is Lonnie (a.k.a. Lonster Monster or Fabulous). My husband and I
adopted her at our local Humane Society in August 2003, along with her
"sister" Lucy. When we saw her and her sister, they were huddled
together asleep in the back of the cage. She was so adorable and timid,
and after playing with her for a while, we knew both she and Lucy were
coming home with us.
She was so small when we adopted her and we did not expect her to grow
as much as she eventually did. She is now the largest of our three cats,
but is a "gentle giant". She is still afraid of everything, but is the
sweetest little thing. Most of the time she does everything in "slow
motion", including going in and out of her pet door to our screened
lanai (which actually took her about three weeks to feel comfortable
doing so). It really is funny watching her go in and out, as she acts as
though it is the first time that she is doing it. That is where she and
her sisters spend most of their days, lounging in the Florida sun on
either the cushioned lounge chairs or the platforms my husband built on
the lanai so that they can watch all the goings-on in the neighborhood.
Lonnie is a very spoiled cat, but we just can't help it. She gives us so
much love and joy that we have to give her back the same.
