What
makes Darla special? Well, everything. She is a fun kitty to have;
she is a real treat. If things are too quiet during the day, i.e. I'm on
the computer, she comes around and touches me with her paw as to say
'Hey, I'm here'. She is also telling me to follow her. So I do. We do a
tour of the house and she's happy.
Darla is a beautiful kitty with great markings on her coat and gorgeous
blue eyes. She adores us and we adore her. She doesn't like
strangers/overnight guests, etc. and will hide under our bed until they
are gone or until the guests go to bed. Darla loves to walk on us and to
knead us at all hours of the night, which is the time she wants to be
petted. The more we pet her the more she purrs. Her purr is extremely
loud. She is fun to watch when she chases an imaginary mouse, and races
throughout the house like a cheetah. She is fast and at the same time she
can stop on a dime. She is a delight to listen to when she holds one of
her numerous conversations with the wild birds. We try not to laugh but
it's not easy. Her favorite toy is a feather attached to a string, which
is attached to a stick. She attacks that feather with a vengeance and will
jump quite high to catch 'that bird'. She loves to drink water out of the
faucet, and most of the time she tests it with her paw before drinking
it.
My husband and I adopted Darla from the Humane Society (where I am a
volunteer) in February 2006. She was about four years old and declawed, the
poor thing! I named her after the darling little girl, Darla, on the
Little Rascals/Our Gang show. Maybe some day we'll get a male cat and
name him Alfalfa... we'll see.
