My
cat Speedy is very special to me. At this moment he is licking his
cute white paws in front of the monitor. He's always been there to
squash a bug, or act crazy when I'm feeling sad. Sometimes he'll look
back at me with those stunning yellow cat eyes and I'll see a cat so
cute, I don't see how someone couldn't love it.
Even though sometimes he's extremely unnerving and knocks over things,
and gets in the way, I still love him for being Speedy. Of course, also
his name, Speedy, he gets for being just plain out fast. Don't let his
fluffy coat or placid expression fool you. If something scares him, or
is unusual, you can see him dash right up to my bedroom in five seconds
flat.
I will always remember the day we brought him home from a cat show in
Winston Salem, we had absolutely no intention of bringing a cat home
that day. After dealing with the death of our eighteen-year-old cat, another
cat around the house seemed a bit wrong. Well, of course we were wrong,
and after a day or so, he grew on us.
Speedy is not like most cats. He likes water and getting wet.
Sometimes while I'm in the shower and the door's slightly cracked, he'll
try and hop in, and when I'm finished he will lay down in the pool of
water left. He also never likes to drink out of his bowl, but plugging
the sink and letting him dip his face in it while drinking is more
effective.
This lively and crazy cat will do anything for attention. I remember
sitting in my bed reading and all of a sudden he jumps into the wall and
falls in the trash can. He made me laugh so hard my lungs almost burst.
He finds the strangest places to rest and play in.
I love my cat, Speedy, I hope I can even take him to college with me
when I get older and he will live as long and as good a life as any
cat can.
