About Us
Bisbee, the Cat of the Day
Name: Bisbee
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Kind: Short haired cat
Home: Texas, USA

This lovable fellow is Bisbee. He's come a long way from the thin, unapproachable feral cat that he was a year ago.

We first noticed him lurking around BSBE - the Biological Sciences Building East on the Texas A&M campus. He was terrified of people and was just one of many ghost-like ferals to be found anywhere that humans live. The Aggie Feral Cat Alliance trapped him humanely, neutered him, gave him his shots, and microchipped him before returning him to his cozy spot under BSBE. They set up a feeding station and kept an eye on him.

Over the next several months, passersby spent a lot of time talking to him from a distance. At some point, he stopped running whenever he saw someone. Later, he'd approach, but he tended to swat if he felt uneasy. He wanted to interact with humans, but he didn't know how. Those of us who counted him as a friend wondered if he'd ever be really trustworthy around children or strangers. Bit by bit, conversation by conversation, he decided that humans weren't always the enemy. By summer, he could be petted cautiously and played with, provided you used something *long* to keep out of range of his claws. By fall, he was coming when called to, though everyone seemed to have a different name for him. Dozens of students, faculty, and staff made it a point to love on him a little every time they went by.

Now Bisbee (still without an official name, but I like to call him for the building where he still hangs out) is a plump, plushy, friendly cat with a sweet disposition. He's always glad to see a friend, rolls over for belly rubs, and is everyone's darling. How could you resist such a handsome boy?
