Hola!
I'm Suzuki, and I am a really lucky cat. I spend days lounging
about on chairs and beds, and when I get tired of that, I hunt for
salamanders and grasshoppers and everything else living ... and
sometimes if I'm in a really silly mood I'll hunt my human family's legs
... but not very often!!
Suzuki (Z-Boy or Zuki for short) is more than special! There isn't
really any words to explain him justly. When our family got here to
Paraguay, we sure didn't expect to get a kitten so accidentally!! I had
always wanted a cat forever, but when we were still living in Canada,
the time never really came up right to get one.
So anyway, we got here to Paraguay for a nine-month stint and settled in
pretty comfortably. For once we didn't think about getting a cat so
much, until one day my sister rushed inside excitedly, saying "Mom hears
a meow in the back yard!" We had already been warned that there were
tons of stray cats around, and just put some cat food outside and you
have a cat but I had never really dreamed of that really happening!!
Well, under the mango tree was a tiny scared little black kitten with
huge ears meowing soooo loud!! He was soooo little! (See the one
picture.) We tried to give him a bit of food, but he ran away into a
tiny crack in our shed.
By this time we almost thought of him as "ours" and named him Suzuki. By
the way, when you hear that his name is Suzuki, please don't think of
the motorcycle, think of the Japanese Violin Program!! We call him that
because we are in Paraguay so that my mom can teach Suzuki Violin here.
Anyways, after a day or two of trying to coax the kitten to come out of
the shed, one afternoon he cautiously crept into our open garage . . .
and that evening he melted into my arms and must have decided that this
was home. It was a good decision on his part!!
Well, it took a few months, but gradually he became a mostly indoor
kitty. He loves to bask in the sun, although he would probably rather
sleep on a lap . . . he now spends most of his days inside, right now as
I write this he is curled up on the chair by me. He has a lot of
different positions, but my personal favorite is when we are being to
loud for his liking and he covers his eyes and ears with his paws! He's
adorable. I know he's a black cat, but he is absolutely everything but
spooky!! He's just so soft, and his purr is the best.
It's really impossible to describe him, but faithful, loving, loud,
purring, gracious (yes, cats can be gracious!), lazy, and more than
special describe him. I know that in reality he's no better than any
other cats (I know alot of other awesome cats!!) but he's my favorite,
anyway!! I really hope that looking into his sweet intense eyes will
give you just a little taste of what a gift he really is.
