My name is Smokey. I live on a wonderful farm with wonderful people, but it wasn't always that way. When I was very small someone dumped me out by the side of the road. I had to beg for a place to stay. Fortunately I came to an Auto Garage and a kind mechanic took me in. He said I would need to get along with his other kitties and catch mice to earn my keep in his shop. The catching mice part was easy, but I had a hard time getting along with other kitties because I was scared. I'm so glad the mechanic was nice enough to keep me around until he could find a better home for me.

One day when I was napping underneath the parts counter, the mechanic picked me up and put me into the arms of a nice lady. She was soft and warm, and I began to purr enthusiastically in spite of my mistrust of people. If I would have known I was having company that day I would have taken an extra bath. I'm very particular about my appearance, but do you know how dirty an auto garage is? I was so dirty from living there that my white fur looked like it was gray. I'm grateful this nice lady overlooked my ragged appearance and I won her over with my unusual personality. She took me home that very day! Now I get to live on a huge farm in the country where I can safely explore, night and day. The only other animal I have to put up with is a dumb beagle named Duke. He likes to live outside all the time, but I like the best of both worlds - I'm an indoor/outdoor cat. I live in a safe area so I can come and go as I please.

When my people took me to the vet for a checkup, they were pleasantly surprised to be told that I am a pure bred Maine Coon Pastel Calico. That doesn't mean much to me, because I believe I am a ferocious descendent of the mighty tiger! To prove it I bravely stalk mice, moles, rabbits, birds, and occasionally the dogs tail! I'm always leaving presents on the front doorstep for my people to show them my appreciation for this wonderful home.

I am a very vocal cat with lots of "words" in my vocabulary. I love to sing, talk, chatter, murt, purr, and, of course, meow. My favorite way to show the folks I love them is to attack their feet while they are sleeping. I pounce on them, wake them up, and then walk away with my tail held high, searching for my next adventure!
