We
selected Muffy, or more accurately, she selected us by swatting the
other cats out of the way, at the Humane Society. Her breed is unknown
although Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest cat have been suggested,
primarily because she likes the cold. Then again, all that fur may be
just too hot. She loves to go outside and if she hears the rattle of
her harness, will come running and meowing.
When we get up in the morning, Muffy leads the way to the bathroom, her
fluffy tail standing up to make sure we know where to go. Quite often,
there will be a toy beside the bed which she has brought up during the
night. She also likes to play hide-and-seek with us through the stair
railings or by hiding in a chair and chasing any hand that comes near.
When Muffy was only two, we heard a crash in the laundry room and
hurrying to see what had happened, were amazed to see Muffy coming
towards us with a bat held in her mouth, its wings fluttering on either
side. This was the first of five bats that Muffy has either caught, or
helped us track down, and for this, she has been given the name of Muffy
the Batslayer.
Muffy likes to lie on my shoulder in bed, or lie like a baby in my arms
when I am watching TV. To us, Muffy is a very special cat indeed and
has brought much joy to our lives.
