Sida
is just over one year, though she was four months in the photo Sida is one
of a pair of sisters. I brought them both home from the North East
Animal Shelter in Massachusetts at four months of age. The shelter wanted
to send them home together, and who was I to argue? Her name comes from
a 16th century Moroccan woman pirate named Sida al Hurra. She is the
calmer of the two, and quieter - she rarely meows. She prefers to expel
a little puff of air that's not even quite a chirp to get my attention,
and follows me from room to room when I'm home. When I'm putting on my
makeup in the morning she likes to sit on the sink and very solemnly
watch what I do, and sometimes reach out ever-so-gently as if to say,
"You need a little more eyeliner."
Her favorite activity is to ferociously attack the legs of the chairs in
the dining room, and she likes to lie on her belly with all her legs
splayed out. She's an absolute sweetheart, and she and her sister helped
heal my heart from losing my Sere at sixteen years.
