One
day nine years ago I went to a woman's home in San Diego who had a
newspaper ad for kittens for sale for $5.00 each. There were several
kittens that had been born on a farm, but now needed homes. Pookey was
snuggled with his siblings and I was drawn to him because he looked so
scared. After bringing him home, I noticed he was very ill. I brought
him to the Vet and Pookey had a respiratory infection, ear mites, fleas
and was very sick. The medication made him very weary and all he wanted
to do was nuzzle himself within my neck and sleep day after day. It
nearly broke my heart!
I am happy to report that of course Pookey survived his illness and is a
very happy, social and the most affectionate little cat that I've ever
known. Every day to this day he waits by the door when I get home from
work, I bend over and he hops onto my shoulder and wraps himself around
my neck and goes for a ride. He is incredibly loving and sweet and it
was the best $5.00 dollars I have ever spent!
