Meet
Munchkin. Here is a cat that is so full of life and zip, but that is
not how he started out. I found him one cold October morning four years
ago when I was out for a walk. He came out from under a bush and met me on
the sidewalk. When I looked down at him I could not believe that this was
a cat that I was looking at. He was horribly starved and had been abused.
I took him home and tried to help him. A couple of days later he was
getting sicker and weaker and I thought it would be more humane to have
him put to sleep. While the vet was getting the shot, the little tiny cat
stood up and wrapped his paws around my neck and touched my nose. That was
it, he melted my heart and I could not do it. So home he came.
The vet told me that he was full-grown cat but he only weighed three pounds.
His mouth was a mess and could not eat, as someone must have kicked him in
the head. He was so congested and his nose was plugged shut. He was
treated for severe upper respiratory problems and was fed with an
eyedropper until he got strong enough to have six teeth pulled. He almost
died a couple of times, but this little cat had such a will to live.
He is a "Momma's Boy" who craves my attention and will do anything to get
it. If I am working on the computer and am ignoring him, he will lie on
top of the monitor and hang his paws in front of the screen so that I
can't see what I am doing or sit on my keyboard. If that doesn't work
than he proceeds to knock everything off the desk onto the floor.
He is always making me laugh. He likes to wing his dry food out of his
bowl and chase it across the kitchen floor before pouncing on it to "make
the kill". Every so often he will race through the house with a razorback
and take a corner on three paws doing 60 miles an hour. I have a small
kitty fishing pole that has a Kleenex tied to the end of it that I swing
that back and forth and he can do some mighty funny leaps in the air to
catch it. He plays until he drops and then he looks for my warm lap to
take a nap on.
Today he is a much healthier and happier cat and I am so glad that I saved
his life. He is rotten and I love him.
