Squeak
is a rescue-of-a-rescue cat. She may be about nine years old,
but I'm not too sure as she's on her third home. She spends her days
eating, sleeping, staring out of windows, climbing over my computer
keyboard and going off a particular brand of food just as soon as I've
brought 24 cans of the stuff. She's not very good at earning her keep,
as she is useless at catching small creatures such as the flies, spiders
and gnats that inhabit our flat from time to time. I'm very glad that
we don't have mice.
That said, she is certainly quick enough to steal food from my plate
when I am tipsy. This does say very little however, as I'm sure that
it's not too much of a test of her cat-like abilities.
Her best friend in the world (apart from me) is a little purple toy
mouse called Killy-Mouse. She loves him so much that she is always
hiding him under the settee or TV stand. She appears to have very few
cat friends as she prefers growling at them and/or chasing them off.
She seems particularly resentful of a kitten called Cooper for some
reason. Maybe he has done something to upset her? I'm not sure.
She has a healthy respect for foxes but I don't think that she's ever
met a badger. I prefer it stay that way!
