This
is my cat Neko. She's my first-ever house pet. When I was growing up,
my parents never allowed me to have pets in the house, so having a sweet
kitty to move in with me was definitely a reason I wanted a pet. My
boyfriend and I found Neko (then called Blue Bell) through one of my
college classmates. She was fostering an approximately six-month-old cat
who was found in the mean streets of Dallas. Having two cats already, my
classmate couldn't keep her, and coincidentally, my boyfriend and I had
been talking about getting a cat. He loves cats and has a very feline
personality himself, so we adopted Blue Bell and renamed her Neko.
She was very timid when she first met us, but warming up to us didn't take
very long! Neko was an only cat for a few months because I graduated and
moved to a large city for work. I stayed temporarily at some friends'
house; their cat was extremely mean to my poor Neko, so I decided to get a
little brother for her so she could stay fit and active and have a friend.
Warming up to her new baby brother Akuma took her a while, but when we
moved out of my friends' house into our own apartment, she started
showering the baby with attention! She even grooms him while he goes to
sleep. Neko is a very happy cat and a great big sister to Akuma. I hope
they continue to be best friends and good kitties.
